Re: humorous if off topic (follows on to: Byte Magazine: 18 Vintage issues...)

I remember one time some thieves broke into a friend's house and stole his
TV, VCR, a computer and some other electronics stuff...rather than mess
with unplugging stuff, though, they had something like a pair of
wire-snips and just cut all the wires. Which must have made a pain for
them since the power cords were hardwired to both the TV and VCR (which I
guess could just be respliced), and they snipped all the computer cables
which would be a pain to replace in any event. An efficient idea, if not
for destroying the things you were stealing. And some of the things would
have been easy to unplug, too, I mean I can understand not wanting to mess
with things that screwed in (or even thumbscrews I suppose) when one it in
a hurry to finish an illegal act, but still...plugs that simply push into
the socket? <sigh>
But I suppose nothing's as disheartening than coming home and seeing lots
of cut cords laying in the place where all your things were...
