How did people find out about Byte (was Re: Byte Magazine: 18 Vintage issues, 1985-1986)

I was thinking about this myself; couldn't remember where I read about
Byte the first time.  I did write a personal letter to Wayne Green
asking particular questions about audience, content, etc.  He answered
and also enclosed issue #2 ..... which I think I still have.
