Re: AOL for Apple II

Thanks for essentially clarifying what I'd said in my earlier post Larry.

Realizing this is the very reason I made arrangements with AOL's
'Powers-That-Be' over two years back, to allow the transfer of the A2 AOL Forum
archives and contents available at that point, to our main Apple2 public access
FTP site -> Ground.

On occasions, with the age and condition of the Ground Apple2 host machine, it
may not always be online and available. This morning (7/30/99 - 7:30 AM - PDT)
seems to be one of those occasions :(

Having encountered this situation on more than one occasion in the past,
I've made additional arrangements with several others to host mirrors of
the Ground Apple2 archives. Even those mirrors can be unavailable which also
seems to be the case at this current time. Why this might occur, I
have no answer for. It could be any number of reasons; Internet routing
overloads, ISP problems, etc. Who knows??? I've tried to access both Ground
and it's mirrors via my ISP - grin.net and also from my AOL acct.
with no success, just now. Perhaps later I could connect. But, for now I
can't. It's certainly not the fault of my connections, as I can connect to
other WWW and FTP sites with ease.

So, for those having the need of access for these archives of Ground, at any
given time, without this happening with them also... I've decided to
offer to anybody - for $10 US - (or outside of the USA) at the cost of making
and shipping only, a CD of the Ground archives, containing the contents of the
site as of 7/24/99.

If you want such a CD, you can request it by email;

Cheers,
Tom
