Switching character disks

On my IIe, I used to have this little trick with RPG's such as Ultima
IV, Bard's Tale, etc.  When the game would ask for your character disk,
I would simply grab a disk at random (could be Print Shop, maybe a
Prodos system disk), and put it in instead.  Invariably I would be
presented with a list of characters that looked like this:

At this point I would load them in, and they would have these really
wacky characteristics like 9999 hit points, 239487263 gold, or
whatever.  I could just rename the nonsense characters, and be all set.
Did anyone else ever do that, or was I just an anomaly?
