Quick note from the Silicon Forest, not disagreeing: The local
(Seattle area) monthly computer magazines have been giving a lot of
favorable press to Linux, even to the point of not saying anything new
and different month to month about it. Which surprises the heck out of
me cuz I'd sort of assumed that the Redmond giant would be trying to
keep the Red Hat (and SuSE, and Slack, and etc) Jack's beanstalk from
getting watered in Redmond's own back yard. :)
Off-topic to Apple //'s, maybe, but I agree that what got Microsoft
into a position of power years ago was evolution (shift away from the
IBM grind), and evolution continues now away from Microsoft (who now
has to buy or "integrate" products to keep up).
