Hey, whatever turns you on.  But your planned conversion is kind of like
getting a Rolls-Royce, chopping off the radiator, and calling it a Volkswagen.

You can convert the drive to SCSI, USB, speakers, or an aquarium, that is
your business.  Live and let live, I say.  But you are cuckoo.  If you have
any spare $100 bills you were plannning to convert to singles by cutting off
the zeroes, let me know, I will give you $10 a piece.
