fischertechnik interface boards

I recently was given five of the fischertechnik interface boards.  It appears
that they control some kind of robotic equipment.  The interface itself is
encased in  a plastic box, instead of being on a board.  It connects by way of
a 16-pin connector  to a socket near the video and tape recorder sockets on the
motherboard.  Any information about them is welcome.  Do they require the
robotic equipment to be of use?  Are they worth anything?  Is any of the
robotic equipment still around?  Any help will be appreciated!
