Depends on what you want to do. If you intend to transfer programs for
use with emulators, then ADT is fine.
However, if you want to transfer formatted data, like thousands of data
base files, or spreadsheet files, or even a bunch of word processing
files with full citation, you'll want to keep your formatting!
(Note: You might think that getting disk images to an emulator is
ok for using with application programs under emulation, but it is hard
to get formatted data files into and out of disk images and most
emulators have a hard time printing.)
If so, then the IIc can do this with CrossWorks from
http://www.sequential.com/ Sequential Systems. CrossWorks
includes a universal serial cable for connecting between any Apple II
model and any PC model. It also has TRANSLATION software
to keep your formatted data files intact. If your data is important, this
program is worth it.
Apple IIc is not my first choice for expandability. IIe or Laser 128
series is better because you have slots. IIGS is the best, but you
might find a IIe or Laser 128 series model for less.
