There must be a big performance gain going from 7 to 12 MHz on the
accelerator. My K6-233, despite a $17 video card, is about as fast
in graphics mode as the IIgs is in text mode. (And of course
WordPerfect 8 vs AWGS is just not fair...)

Open-Apple says it was still a pre-release GSWorks at the May 1988
Applefest, which was when Claris reps got a look at it and bought it
almost on the spot. (After which the developers wandered off
without being stopped and wrote ClarisWorks, which Claris -- says
Guy Kawasaki -- didn't originally want. Who was running that
company?) My v1.0 disks, which I stupidly made a backup of
1.1 on, have a 1988 copyright.

Urrrr...this is a matter of opinion. I was very excited to get
WPGS 2.1 but ended up selling it in favor of WP IIe. That wasn't
much better so I went back to AppleWorks. GUIs come and go, but
AppleWorks is forever.

Bad design is platform-independent, I find.

My other computer is an Apple II.
