I know of at least one company that made a ROM disk for the Apple II. SCRG
(Southern California Research Group) made a card called the quikLoader. I
have never seen one but it was advertised as an "instant AppleWorks". The
idea was you sent in a disk with a copy of AppleWorks configured the way you
wanted it and they would program the EPROMs and send them back on a card.
Presumably the disk also had to have ProDOS on it.
There was someone in this newsgroup recently who was working on a new Apple
II ROM disk card. Sorry, I've forgotten who it was.
