But doesn't this same argument apply to Windows' install disks as well ?

How many 100's of graphics drivers, printer drivers, mouse drivers, 3D accelerator
drivers, scanner drivers, CD drivers, etc are there included on the Windows install
CD ?  And yet, you only need those that apply to your system and only these are
installed.

Windows 9x might ship on a CD, but you don't need each and every byte of every
program on the CD to run it / install it.
