Re: Apple II software poll

Here goes nothing :-)

[best A2 software titles]

>GAMES: ARCADE/ACTION

Karateka, GI Joe, Short Circuit, Lode Runner.

In my opinion, Adventure Construction Set by Stuart Smith is one of the best
games/creation utilities on the world, even with its limitations... I have
spent hours crafting worlds with this thing... good old times... :'-)

As for adventure, I would go to King's Quest I and II.

> GAMES: STRATEGY

Robot Rascals was great because it was a sort of board game where the board
was the computer.
You played with real cards over the table, with a set of friends, and all
the rules/events/turns where handled by the computer. It was really fun, and
I have never ever seen that sort of game again. What a pity :-(

Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego,
and the Learning Company games (Robot Odissey, Rocky's Boots, Reader
Rabbit...)

> HOME/BUSINESS APPLICATIONS: WORD PROCESSORS

AppleWorks 5.1 for professionals,
the Newsroom for making newspapers in a fun way.

>AppleWorks 5.1

>> HOME/BUSINESS APPLICATIONS:DATA BASE

Same as above.

>> SYSTEM UTILITIES: OPERATING SYSTEMS

DOS 3.3 :-)

At the time, Pascal and Basic...

> SYSTEM UTILITIES: COMMUNICATION

Never used them... I haven't got a modem by then.
The closest thing I could say is...

"the floppy disk" :-)

> SYSTEM UTILITIES: SOFTWARE MANAGMENT

Locksmith. :-)

> SYSTEM UTILITIES: GRAPHICS MANIPULATION

Fantavision, to create animations in a fun way (I sense you are discovering
a pattern here: yes, when I used an Apple IIe I was a kid...;-) )

> OTHER

ApplePC, an easy to use emulator which runs almost anything I've tried on
it... :-)
