Hi, you will also need an expansion card with a RAM cache and a
clock regulator on it. This hardware allows the CPU to operate at
a frequency independent of the system bus (a similar system is built
into all newer PC motherboards).
There are two cards available for the IIGS. One is called the Zip GS.
The other is the TransWarp GS. Either cards would do, but both are
only available on the used market now.
These cards usually run at 7Mhz by default, but you can just swap
the CPU and the crystal on the card with faster parts and go up all
the way to 16Mhz. The CPUs can go to 20Mhz, no problem, but
other components on the cards are the limiting factor.
The crystal should be 4x the speed of the CPU, so if you want the
CPU to go at 10Mhz, you want a 40Mhz crystal.
