STUCKED Zip Disk

I have a friend who has a 100-meg Zip disk stuck into his Iomega Zip drive.
Both green, and yellow lights remain on.  Icons of the partitions of the Zip
do not show up on his desktop.

How can he safely remove the disk without destroying any parts?
