Apple II software poll results b1

The is the beta version of the Apple II software poll results.  The idea is
to get those wh haven't responded to do so now  ;)

On this I am only putting up the programs that got the most nominations.
Otherwise, this would be a very long list, indeed.

GAMES:ARCADE/ACTION
I got a lot of responses here.
Duh.
keep in mind, these games were only nominated twice(!)

Apple Panic
Castle Wolfenstein
Sky Fox
Wings of Fury
Wolfenstein 3D (IIgs)



GAMES:ADVENTURE/ROLE PLAYING

Ultima
Wizadry
Bards Tale

These three series dominated, pretty much in that order.  Zork, for some
reason lagged behind.  Other honorable mentions are Enchanter (series) and
Dungeon Master (IIgs).



GAMES: STRATEGY

Archon

This is the only game that got two nominations.  And I didn't get that many
titles, either. Weird.



GAMES: EDUCATIONAL

Where in * is Carmen Sandiego (series)
HyperStudio

No surprises there.  Carmen was fun, if nothing else.

Apple Works

Hands down, the champ in all of these catagories.  Either everyone
got/learned this one and didn't try any others or this was the best app. on
the Apple II for a long time.



OPERATING SYSTEMS

This confused a lot of people, since the IIe only had DOS or ProDOS (the top
runners).  The IIgs has a few OS's.  I was really more interested in these
;)

GS System 6.0.1 came out on top, BTW



PROGRAMMING LANGUAGES

BASIC, in one form or another, was top.  Most didn't say, but I assume they
all meant Applesoft BASIC which came loaded in the IIe.

Merlin, an assembler, came in second.



COMMUNICATION

Spectrum topped for the IIgs
ProTerm for non-IIgs.



SOFTWARE MANAGMENT

Copy II Plus, hands down

Although one person pointed out a problem verion 9.0 has with RAM 5.



GRAPHICS MANIPULATION

Platinum Paint for the IIgs.

It just makes sense that the IIgs would have the best grphics program.



OTHER

Two new catagories are now going to be added, thanks to those who pointed
out that they were needed.
