Here's another interesting modification.  It seems a single
System Saver IIGS fan did not adequately cool my backup
IIGS, which has quite a few heat generating cards inside.
So I installed a small 12v DC fan on the internal power
supply of the IIGS too.  This helped a little, but there were
still hot spots inside.

Then I did something on a hunch: I reversed the air flow on
the two fans.  Instead of pushing air out of the IIGS, the
System Saver fan now pushes air INTO the top of the IIGS.
Similarly, the internal fan now draws air out of the power
supply and pushes it at the peripheral cards.

Guess what?  The hot spots are gone!  Also, I feel a cool
stream of air coming out of the bottom of the IIGS.  I
know it is counter-intuitive since warm air rises, but my
IIGS really is cooler this way.

I'm used to having a cool IIGS since my flagship unit is in
a tower case and reversing the fans on my backup unit
reduces the temperature to the level I'm confortable with.
