The main limitation is size of the PS board. I opened both a IIGS PS
and a PC one a few days ago when I was installing fans on my backup
IIGS unit. The design of power supplies is pretty much the same.
120v AC in. 12v, 5v, -12v, -5v DC and ground out. Several heat sinks
visible. The IIGS power supply (70 watts) has small heat sinks. The
PC power supply (230 watts) has huge heat sinks. But the design is
basically the same.
The Vulcan power supply is also undoubtedly the same but the PS
board has to be smaller to make room for the hard drive and fan. You
may have luck finding a suitable PS board replacement from a Mac LC
power supply. The power supply of that unit looks quite small. Or a
IIc Plus power supply, perhaps. Or maybe a power supply from an
Amiga.
Just swap the PS boards of the Vulcan and the transplant computer's
power supply and solder the AC and DC leads. Test the finish product
with a voltage meter and if everything checks out, you are done.
