Two thirds of $1000, and one third of the Apple logo has been bitten
out? :-)

[Doubtful - I don't think the Apple logo in its current or previous
rainbow form was introduced until well after the Apple I came out.]

The number of gates in the 6502, ignoring the decimal point? (Sounds
too high - I think it more like 25K.)

There is the obvious connection with the number of the beast, but I
expect that was just an added bonus.

Number of bytes of code used by Integer Basic (with an extra 6 thrown on
the end)?

Doesn't look like an opcode sequence (ROR $66 doesn't have any obvious
connotations).

Some connection to the price of the Altair, or some other link to the
Homebrew Computer Club?

I assume the CPU is running at around 1 MHz as in the Apple II, but if
it is slower, then it could be the clock frequency in kHz.

Me too. Fire up those imaginations, folks.
