John,
Assuming you have the proper printer driver loaded, the easiest and
cheapest way to share a printer between two macs (especially older
Macs) is to use Phone Net connectors. I have used them for years and
presently have my 6100/G3 and my wife's 6100/66 using a TI Microlaser
printer and an HP 550C inkjet printer. Each Mac can select which
printer it wants in it's chooser. It also forms a min-network so we can
share and transfer files, but we never use this aspect of it.
I have seen these for sale for about $20 in the Mac catalogs. I have
several extra ones that I can sell you for $5.00 each.
