Re: Help with Sys 5 for IIGS-- Getting ShrinkIt

If you are using a Mac and have the means to download Shrink II

http://apple.cabi.net/pub/applegs/GS.Emulators/Misc.Mac.Stuff/
 or
ftp://apple.cabi.net/pub/applegs/GS.Emulators/Misc.Mac.Stuff/

 - it is in a stuffit (.sit) archive and also in a Disk Copy Image file. Use
unstuffit expander to unstuff the .sit archive of it. Or, use ShrinkWrap,
Disk Copy, etc. on your Mac to make either a virtual disk on your Mac desktop
or a REAL disk from the Disk Copy image file.

Make it easy on yourself - make an alas icon of Shrink II on your Mac desktop -
so you can drag and drop any ShrinkIt archive you do download over it and -
presto the Apple II and/or IIgs ShrinkIt archive will open, you can then
unshrink it to either a folder on a ProDOS 800k disk in your Mac disk drive or
if it happens to be an SDK archive or shows up as a disk on the archive after
it opens with Shrink II on your Mac (that's a disk that has been archived as a
whole disk with the Apple II or IIgs ShrinkIt programs), you then can make two
choices; unshrink the disk to your Mac desktop as a Disk Copy disk image file
or unshrink it to a REAL ProDOS 800k disk in your Mac disk drive as a REAL 800k
ProDOS disk. Then take that disk out, walk over to your IIgs with it and there
you go!!!

You see, the Shrink II program (which is a Mac application) running on a Mac
can (and will very nicely) allow you to drag and drop any Apple II or IIgs
ShrinkIt archive over the Shrink II archive and do any of the above functions
with it.

You can even download the Apple II and/or IIgs ShrinkIt program archives and
(using Shrink II on your Mac) unshrink it to a REAL ProDOS 800k disk in your
Mac disk drive. Then you have it to use on your IIgs to actually unshrink it's
archives on your IIgs.

I hope this makes things a bit easier and clearer for you. If you still have
any questions you need clarification with or help in any way, please feel free
to email me.

Cheers,
Tom
