Re: Help with Sys 5 for IIGS

oaaland@aol.com replied - (I conclude in response to the original post for help
and my response): And, to the following I reply again with ***:)

"System 6 does not REQUIRE a hard drive. If you use System 6 and ust the same
capacities as were available in System 5 the disk space required is almost the
same. Just get System 6 and losd just the parts you need. You can set up
different disks to do diferent things for you, more than you would be able to
do with System 5.

However System 6 has so many more things available that you will want to use
that you will be drooling for a hard drive. Once you get a hard drive you will
soon find out that 1.25 Meg in a ROM 01 machine is also cramped. A ROM 3 with
an Apple Memory Card fully populated will do for most things if you do not use
a Ram drive."

***:)This is indeed all very true! So here's an offer for the original person
asking for help with all this. I'll throw in a 4MB RAM card for your IIGS for
$20. You'll have to get the HD from Altech. The Focus 20MB IDE hardwrive on a
card - cost $59, last time I checked, has the GS/OS 6.0.1 on it with lot's more
VERY USEFUL software also (ready to plug in the card and boot it from slot 7).
It's the one I use on my IIGS and I love it!!!
It's worth every cent of the $59 price from Altech.

Cheers,
Tom
