I believe the trick is a port speed of 56k, default for Mac printers.  This
is why the IIGS can print to DeskWriters (not just DeskJets) from
AppleWorks Classic.  You just need a CDA that provides the 56k port
speed option.

It also means that the Stylus and DeskWriter are effectively IIGS
only printers as far as the serial port goes (with a parallel card using
the Stylus' parallel port, it'll work on any IIGS) for AppleWorks.
