CiderPress operates at the lowest level allowed by the OS.  On Win2K
and later, it can view (and overwrite) the partition map.  (On Win98
you could only write to "logical" volumes unless you built some 16-bit
thunk code.)

You said "load from file" was not available.  Was "copy to file"?

One thing that makes me curious is that the CFFA would take an
interest in the contents of the card.  There is no "CFFA partition
format", which is part of what makes identifying CFFA volumes so much
fun.

You should be able to make a file full of zeroes whose size matches
the original volume and just stomp on the whole thing.
