SIS works from a dial-up shell account, so I just dial into my ISP using
Spectrum. Marinetti allows you to make a PPP connection, but then you'd
need to telnet to a shell to run SIS, so why bother if you already have a
dial up shell account?
So, a better question would be: How the heck do you do a shift-boot AND
load DAs or Cdevs?
Simple!
ShiftyList to the rescue!
Sheppy wrote a utility program which allows you to assign what
add-ons you want loaded with a shift-boot. ShiftyList lets you have sounds
and startup pics and DAs and Control Panels.
So, when I do a Shift-Boot for Spectrum, I actually do load Pointless and
NiftySpell. Pointless so that the screen looks good; NiftySpell so that I
look good ;-)
Although there have been two recent updates to ShiftyList (it's now at
version 2.0.2) there is a v2.0 demo avalable on the Sheppyware site at
http://www.sheppyware.net
Check it out; you may find it useful. I liked it so much, I distribute it
for Sheppy ;-)
