Your problem isn't likely with the drive or its origin (I've been using
non-Apple drives for years.)

For a Mac to recognise that ProDos volume, it needs Apple's PC Exchange
control panel. As far as I know, it comes with System 7.5 and up, and
in my experience, 7.5's PC Exchange works with System 7.1 and up.

System 6.x and maybe 7.0 can mount (and format?) ProDos volumes if the
"ProDOS File System" extension is present.

You can get both of them free from Apple, the 6.x extension is on the
IIe Card Setup disk, and 7.5's PC exchange is available via System
7.5.3, which is freely downloadable. Or, you could email me and I'll
send you them :-)

Cheers,
Doug
