As far as I know, the Vulcan controller doesn't do DMA at all so you
can't turn it on or off.

There are a number of things that could be going wrong but the first
thing I would suggest you do is check your RamFAST settings. You do
this by holding down the 0 key on the numeric keypad and turning on
your IIgs. When the RamFAST Utilities screen shows up go to the
Options menu. Check that DMA is set to Yes and TranswarpGS is set to
No. This is the standard way to set up a RamFAST with a ZipGS
accelerator.

If the TranswarpGS option is set to Yes, the RamFAST will not perform
DMA into memory above 4 MB. If the DMA option is set to No then no
DMA will be performed at all. You can try different settings here but
I would try them in this order if you do:

    Setting 1st 2nd 3rd
    ----------- --- --- --------------
    DMA Yes Yes No
    TranswarpGS No Yes Doesn't matter

The only other thing I could suggest checking is to see if your memory
card has jumpers to tell the computer how much memory is installed on
the card. If it does, make sure that you are setting those jumpers
correctly when you have 8 MB installed. I made the mistake of having
the wrong jumper settings once and it took me a while to finally
figure out why my machine wouldn't work with 8 MB installed. :)
