I don't think anyone is accusing another of stealing exact solutions to a
problem. With minor exceptions of syntax (such as branching around the problem
in a slightly different way), most solutions would be the same. If you are
talking about me, after discussing it with another programmer, I tried to go
back the the original message and immediately correct this misconception, but
the service would not let me post. Something (or somebody) was preventing me
from posting a follow up reply. I am sorry about that, and I am sorry about the
misconception on eveyone's part. Perhaps someone could convey that for me now.
I believe that it is the background info, i.e., laying the groundwork by
identifying the problems and publishing specific bug reports for the public's
awareness, that was in question in my mind. The information has been openly
discussed for months, including publication in the major magazines since
September 98. To not know about this, and the existing solution, you'd have to
be in a black hole. So the overall question, why produce another, slightly
different version of a product, when a perfectly good solution is already
available and in widespread use? I believe it was done for commercial
purposes, which brings in a little grey area, but certainly not too grey.
Anyway, the program in question is in the public domain, so anyone is free to
do whatever they want. Sorry for any problems on this issue from my part. I
really do try to mind my own business.
ProSel 16 v8.90 and Mr.Fixit v4.6 are available for downloading on my web site
and on Compuserve.
