You must remember than Rubywand and myself are Win 95/98 users.
I used to think that way myself until I saw an AppleTalked IIGS.
Now I think AppleTalk is useful for transfering files to and from a
Mac and that it is certainly better than null-modem.

HOWEVER, I do not think AppleTalking to a Mac's hard drive can
replace a hard drive dedicated for the IIGS.  The speed, while
much faster than a null-modem, is still painfully slow.  Like that of a
3.5" disk drive.

I use Zip disks to do my transfers and find that this method is the
most pleasant.  I would rank the methods as follows:

1 = best, 2=next best, 3=worst

1. Zip disk
2. AppleTalk
3. Null-modem or floppy disk.
