Hi, what version of the IIGS Finder are you using? You should be
using System 6.0.1. If you don't have it, get it. Since System 5.0, I
think, the IIGS has been using the same extended files as the Mac.
As a result, files touched by a Mac will still be recognized on the
IIGS. Better yet, with System 6.0.1, you can install the HFS FST and
use the HFS file system on the IIGS. The HFS file system is the Mac's
standard file system. That means you will no longer have to mess
with PC Exchange! The HFS FST on the IIGS is more transparent,
faster, and more reliable than PC Exchange on the Mac. Basically,
the IIGS reads and writes Macintosh disks better than the Mac reads
and writes Apple II ProDOS disks.

In fact, I use HFS more than ProDOS file systems on my IIGS.
