     Probably, you are talking about doing dot graphics on the 8k hires
screen-- the one which allows six basic colors: green, purple, orange, blue,
black, white. Doing your own hires editor is a good way to get some practice
with programming graphics. Some of the routines will be useful in other
programs you write.

     There are a number of programs for 'painting' on the hires screen. Two
which run on 64k Apple II's are Blazing Paddles and the Koala Micro
Illustrator.

     There are other kinds of dot level editors. Various certificate and
greeting card makers allow creating smaller pictures. Then, there are font
creators such as Beagle's Apple Mechanic.
