Nit: in Apple human interface terms, you mean that Appletalk is dimmed.
"Greyed out" is GatesSpeak.
Anyhow, sounds like you forgot to put either slot 1 or slot 2 to YOUR CARD
first. Gotta do one of 'em before Appletalk in slot 7 works.
