Daisy chaining a Disk ][
Call me a neat freak, but I could never stand the way that the Disk ][
drive cables connected directly to the controller card with those 20-pin
header connectors, even with Apple's various forms of strain relief.
After I got my Apple IIe years ago, I replaced the ribbon cables on my
Disk ][ drives with DB-19 cables like those on the Unidisks, 5.25
Drives, etc. and made short cables to go from the Disk ][ Controller
card to female DB-19 connectors mounted on the computer's backplane, the
way God intended. That kept me happy for a long, long time, but now I'd
like to use one of those 5.25" drive controllers that only has one
connector and modify my Disk ][ drive 1 so that I can daisy chain drive
2 from it. For various reasons (mostly sentimental, I'm sure), I want
to keep my Disk ]['s and don't want to replace them with a DuoDisk or
5.25 Drives. I'm sure that I remember long ago seeing some sort of kit
that you could buy to make Disk ]['s daisy chainable, and it can't be
too hard to do. If anyone knows how to do this and can give me some
pointers, that would save me a lot of work. Thanks!
