"FType.Apple" is correct for Sys 6.0.1. Evidently, GSHK was trying to
update the Desktop file in ICONS/ on the volume which has GSHK and the
process bombed-- not all that unusual. Delete your current Desktop file and
try again.
A way around screwups with Desktop updating is to use a Finder Extra
utility named "Quick Launch" to start favorites like GSHK. (I regularly
delete Desktop from ICONS/ folders when I notice it has been created. This
and using Quick Launch turns out to save a lot of bother involving Desktop
file bombs.)

Have not tried a CPM card on a IIgs. Perhaps someone who has will know
which Slots are best and weather or not it is necessary to set the Slot to
"Your card".
