The OS is failing when trying to update the Desktop file in the
Icons folder. Many IIGS programs need to update this file to
store icons, path, and document ownership information. It is sort
of like the registry in Windows.

There are two possibilities. First, the Desktop file may be
corrupted. Unlike the Windows registry, GS/OS is "self-
healing" in this respect. ;-) Simply delete the Desktop file and
it will rebuild itself, one entry at a time, when you launch your
applications.

The second possibility is that your copy of GSHK is corrupted,
but this is less likely.

Yes, I think it is possible, but if I recall correctly some CP/M cards
need the IIGS slowed down to IIe clock speed to run. You do
this by going into the control panel and switching from "Fast" to
"Normal." Be sure to switch it back to fast before running 16-bit
software again, though.

Good luck!
