Perhaps.  The reason I was so obsessed with speed of Zip disk versus
serial transfer is because a couple of days ago, I moved about 6MB of
stuff over from the IIGS to the Win PC via serial.  I did this because a
hardware conflict on the Windows unit temporarily disabled parallel
port access to the Zip drive.  I pulled my hair out waiting for the thing to
finish via zmodem.

Yesterday, I fixed the problem and my Windows unit can use the Zip
drive again.  I did a several similar transfers and was so much faster.
I could not imagine using serial as my only means of transfer.  Just my
take on the two solutions.
