One problem I see here is that you are adding an extra byte at $1C00
but are then cutting off the last byte when you save it to disk.  The
L parameter is a length parameter and if you add one byte to a file
that is $4E00 bytes long, it then becomes $4E01 bytes long.  :)

Try changing that last line to:

     bsave /hd1/sen0404.doc,tbin,a$1000,l$4e01

and see if that makes a difference.
