Hard drives on Apple IIc/IIgs

Hi
I have a Apple IIgs, and IIc. I could make them very productive(like email
and word processing) if only I could add a hard drive to one of them. I do
have lots of Mac hard drives, and IDE drives available. The other day I came
across an Apple IIe Card Installer/startup diskettes. I  suspect that they
may have a part to play in the equation. Other than that, I do have a
working Mac LC. The reason why I mention all of these is because I was
reading up on this but am unable to understand it. The article did mention
these items at various points. Could someone explain to me in simple terms
how to get a hard drive working with my IIgs, and what are the exact
equipment/hardware needed.
