Hmm I never tried since monochrome QT playback sounds underwhelming. You
probably need a recent OS version since SE/30s lack 32 bit color quickdraw
in ROM and QT needs it. It's built into the system on 7.5 and up at least
I imagine. Since you can get to 7.5.5 for free, and that's the last version
that runs on an SE/30, there's no reason not to have 7.5.5 on there anyway.
