However, it's strange that you mention another company, since,
according to the book, it was an engineer at Apple, Steve Perlman, who
came up with the card. Besides that, I would think that apart from the
microprocessor, the card would have to have had the Macintosh ROMs
onboard as well, which would mean getting permission from Apple.

According to the book, the card only cost $300 (compared to the new
Macintosh's price).

Would this monitor serve both Apple II & Mac applications?
Would there have been a way to switch between systems (Apple II/Mac) or
was this one way (Converting the IIgs into a Mac without backward compatibility)?
