Appled Ingenuity Inner Drive Help?

I've been given some IIGS stuff, including an AI Inner Drive 40.  The
power supply in the drive seems to be dead, but the drive will spin up
when hooked to an external power supply.  When attached to the AI card,
their utilities see the drive, but report its formatted with an older
version of their software (the floppy disk has v4 on them).  But v4
won't let me reformat the drive....reporting errors.  I tried a
different 60 odd meg IDE mechanism from an old 386SX, but the inner
drive controller/software doesn't even see it.  So....I seem to have a
good controller/software but bad drive/power supply....  Anyone have a
good AI Inner Drive that's looking for a controller/software? or an
older version of the software I can try?   I'd really like to get this
going on the old IIGS so someone can use it again...all help
