Mac cannot use Apple II 5.25" floppy drives. The IIe CAN,
however, use a Mac external 3.5" drive, either the 800k or
the 1.44MB variety, with the right card. The Universal Disk
Controller (UDC) card supports the 800k drive. It can use
the 1.44MB one, but only for 800k disks. The SuperDrive
controller supports both 800k and 1.44MB disks and drives.

There are IIe programs that can read files off HFS disks.
