Actually, the PC and Mac had viruses long before the Apple // family
had one.

Can't do it without a lot of hardware. The design of the drive
interface is not based on available floppy controller chips. (Woz did
not think of looking to see if any existed back when he did the Disk][
Interface.]
Central Point Software (now part of Symantec) did release a PC
hardware card that allowed you to hook up an Apple drive, but it has
been out of production for over 10 years.
