     This _may_ be fairly easy to fix.

     The IIgs monitor's HV module (the black thing with the anode lead going to
the picture tube) is mounted to the motherboard in holes which are too large
for the pins. As a result, many units develop solder fractures around the pins
which lead to all sorts of problems for users including the one you describe.

     The fix for the above is to resolder all of the pins from the HV module
using good quality solder. (Of course, you need to take a number of safety
precautions-- unplug monitor and let it sit several hours, wear goggles, work
on a non-conductive table, discharge the HV anode, etc. as described in more
detail in the FAQs Csa2Monitor.txt file.)
