another valuable resource falls by the wayside.

when will people understand that certain actions cause things like this?

it makes me sick. it's hard enough to find anything for this system.
there's going to be a point when ALL of us may as well just say "to hell
with it" and junk the Apple II. when that day comes (and it's not far
off, at this rate), only the pirates will be interested in the bugger.

i can't help but think that all this has that "OpenSource" mentality;
people seem to think that just because Egghead (or the local
equivalent) doesn't carry it anymore, the software "must" be FREE. that's
just plain STUPID. when people act according to that train of thought,
anyone that even CONSIDERED writing software (or supporting it) are scared
off. they don't want to feel that they are wasting their efforts. i
can't say i blame them.

for those of you with that "OpenSource" mentality: lay off. Heinlein said
it best when he coined the phrase "TANSTAAFL". There Ain't No Such Thing
As A Free Lunch. quit acting like it's free just because it's not
available at your local software house. everything costs something to
SOMEONE, even if it's not you. SOMEBODY has to pay for it.

for those of you working to get software reclassified: keep up the good
work. even if we can't find the software around, it's good to know that
it's still available. shareware beats being available shelf-only.

to those of you that like to upload software before any official
reclassification has been completed (and this includes any official plans
for distribution), KNOCK IT OFF! you've done enough damage. quit it
while we still HAVE something. it's people like you that made it
fashionable for programs to require dongles (and other protection
schemes) in the first place!

i don't need to mention names here. we all know where we fit in and
where we don't.
