Just so you know you aren't alone, I get exactly the same error reported
if I try to print directly to my HP LaserJet 6MP from my IIgs (or if I
send a saved file to it from my Mac).
I attempted to isolate the offending Postscript once, but didn't have
any luck (I haven't learnt the language yet, but I do have some idea of
how its syntax works). The STACK report you provided might help, if it
could be related back to the source in some meaningful way.
I see that Supertimer has suggested using the System 6.0 LaserWriter
driver (in an earlier followup). Why don't I dig it out and have a
try...
Well what do you know! It even handles downloading bitmap fonts that
the printer doesn't support, though it doesn't seem to be downloading a
suitably larger bitmap to produce smoothed output. If the driver is
assuming 300 dpi then it should be using a 4x font, correct? Perhaps
the driver is able to identify that the printer is 600 dpi and is now
looking for an 8x font? Nope, that didn't work either.
Oh well, beggars can't be choosers. I think I can live with eight or so
standard fonts.
Thanks for that info, Supertimer!
I also got to use my System 6.0 Golden Master for the first time in a
while (shared by a Mac over LocalTalk, of course).
