quite vividly showed the difference between Armour of +1 and
Armour of +10 (the guy with no arms vs. the tank!). We spent
over a year playing Proving Grounds and enjoyed it immensely.
Almost every weekend, we'd get together: 3 people controlling
2 party members, each. One on keyboard, one mapping & one
writing down info & keeping track of treasure/weapons/spell-
levels, etc. It was a *lot* of fun. Few games since then (even
though the graphics, complexity & system power has gone through
several quantum changes) have held our interest or captured our
imaginations as thoroughly as did the original Wizardry. Does
that mean I pine away for the `old days'? No way. Though I'm
not impressed with the proliferation of `shootem-ups' & mind-
numbing `hack & slash' killkillkill blow-it-up games out there
now; we still enjoy a good adventure/RPG game when it appears.
