No they don't.  The unenhanced IIe displays "Apple ][", emphasising the
fact that the IIe has lower-case support, unlike the ][+.

I very much doubt the original Apple ][ displays "APPLE ][" or anything
similar - it doesn't have an autostart ROM, unless you've changed the
motherboard ROM or used a ROM card.  The ][+ displays "APPLE ][".
