Well, you can capture half tracks with SST (or other means) then merge
them by hand into a NIB image. I actually did this for Borg.

Then AppleWin does (or did, I don't know if anyone's changed my code)
round half-track accesses down to the nearest whole track. So I had my
franken-NIB of Borg with half tracks booting on AppleWin. (Borg has a
cool boot-up animation, which is why I did all that!)

Whoa!  Nice SST/.nib hack!

..so I'm guessing that SST *does* do synchronized reads, to allow
the merging?
