This is probably because you installed the cable from the keyboard
wrong. Take it out, make sure all the pins are straight, and then try
reinstalling, making sure the red line is toward the end of the socket
with the little notch in it.
It's kind of hard to get in under the keyboard when it's monted and do
this right.
Another posibility is a short in the keyboard. This is less of a
problem than you would think, since it's such a simple keyboard
circuit. If it got something like coke or milk spilt into it, then you
can remove it from the machine, soak it in warm water, wait until it
dries and reinstall it. This would also work if there was some grit in
the keyboard, causing the short.
