Yes, it is.  And, IMHO, one of the best available.   Made even better by the
fact that it's completely free; and source code is available for every major
platform.  There are front-ends and third-party addons abound, and POV-Ray
supports all kinds of imaging formats, as well as animations.  A friend of
mine, who I'll claim to be an expert, has used povray to generate raytrace
animations superior to those used publically in, say, Babylon 5.  Povray
absolutely _rules_, and the later versions are becoming extremely powerful.
